Deer oh Deer

The fallow deer in the fields around me are a lot more timid than deer within National Parks. I attempt to not disturb them and get as close possible, but there hearing is immaculate and its safe to say I haven't cracked the silent stalking steps of a predator. I use the outer edges of the fields to blend into the vegetation as the fields are vastly open. One step on a twig and thats them leaping off. June and July are the calving and fawning season for Fallow Deer, where they stay out of the way to give birth to their young. The secretive nature of the birthing is to protect the mother and young from predation. The labour is a silent process in order to not draw attention to the new born fawn, who would be an easy target. The deer around here are timid in any season, so I will incredibly lucky to witness a birth! But for now, I did manage to see a fawn, seen below, before they caught sight of me and vanished into the fields beyond.... The tranquility of deer amaze me, their quite nature leads to views of a docile life, but their strength and stature is truly impressive. I hope to spend a lot more time with them.
